Immune deficiency in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia

Bogdana Dorcioman, Anca Bacârea, Galafteon Oltean

Abstract:

Immunodefiency in patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia is an important aspect because of its contribution in disease΄ s course and prognostic. Infectious complications continue to be a major cause of morbidity and mortality in this disease. The aim of this article is to present the factors which contribute to the state of acquired immunodeficiency of these patients. The paper presents: humoral immunodeficiency (hypogammaglobulinemia, mucosal immune defects), changes of complement system and cell-mediated immunity abnormalities (quantitative and qualitative alterations of T-cells).
