Abstract: Breast cancer is one of the most sluggish evolution among the malignant tumors and consequently, both the pre-clinical and clinical stages (after the innitial treatment and metastasy) are measured in years and decades. Therefore, it is of crucial importance the improving of the test indicators for the cell activity. The paper is presenting a correlated interpretation of the BRM (CA 15-3) and TPS cancer markers by considering as well the influece of some perturbing factors which might alter the results, such as the UV-A radiation from the sunlight or from the artificial fluorescent lamps, the pre-surgical stress or the medication. The UV-A influence was simulated by an adequate laser radiation impinging on the samples. The study was performed upon 80 female patients aged between 20 and 75 under investigation at the Oncology Institute “Al. Trestioreanu” Bucharest during the time interval March 2004 – December 2006. The malignant breast lesions were confirmed by the post surgical histopathological test. The measurements of the tumor markers CA 15-3 and TPS were made four times according to a well defined scheme. The test interpretation was assessed by considering the following test indicators: specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value. The UV-A radiation is modifying the test indicators. The test indicators improve when cross correlating the BRM and TPS values, thus their simulateous determination should be preferred.
