Throat swab - the value of bacteriological analysis

Edit Székely

Abstract:

Throat swab is one of the most frequently analyzed specimens in a bacteriology laboratory. As this is differently processed and interpreted in various laboratories there is a need to reassess its importance. Data presented pleads for the use of this analysis only to document streptococcal etiology of acute pharyngitis.

Keywords: throat swab,acute pharyngitis,group A streptococcus.
