The importance of tumor markers in oncology

Adina Elena Stanciu

Abstract:

Because it's important to detect cancer early, researchers are looking for new and better tumor markers. But as doctors have learned more about cancer, they've found that the level of a single protein or other substance in the blood may not be the best marker for the disease. In recent years, doctors have begun to detect new tumor associated antigens.

Keywords: tumor marker,neoplazic disease,sensitivity,specificity
