Abstract:

The aim of our study was to analyze the influence of Hodgkin’s lymphoma histological type in survival rate. Our study based on 217 patients hospitalized in City Hospital Timisoara, Haematology Department. These cases were diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in the Pathology Department of the same hospital. Histo-logical type identification was performed using Hematoxilin-Eosin stain and PAS reaction. The classification was performed using REAL/WHO criteria and the clinical staging was performed according to Costwolds classification. We haven’t found any differences in histological types evolution after 5 years (p ≤ 1; distribution is not significant). After 10 years, the lymphocyte depleted histological subtype showed the less survival rate (p ≤ 0,01; distribution is significant). Our results are in concordance with literature. We observed an increase from 43% to 50% in number of mixed cellularity cases and an increase from 14 to 29% in number of lymphocyte depleted cases. Furthermore, we appreciate that lymphocyte depletion is the highest aggressive Hodgkin’s lymphoma histological subtype.
